Why SPF 30 and not SPF 50?
The difference between SPF 30 and SPF 50 in terms of actual sunburn protection is minimal (barely measurable). SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 50 blocks 98%. This 1% difference offers no significant advantage over SPF 30. The common belief that SPF 50 provides double the protection is a widespread misconception. Additionally, sun products with SPF 50 tend to have a thicker consistency due to a denser filter system, which can unnecessarily burden the skin and feel sticky and greasy.
